This week, my body was the teacher. Every ache, stretch, and breath had something to say. I discovered wisdom isn’t only in the mind. It’s tucked into muscles, bones, and the rhythm of a heartbeat.
Here’s what I learned about myself — accidentally, of course.
1. My shoulders told me I’ve been carrying too much.
When I finally dropped what wasn’t mine, I felt taller.
Maybe strength is measured in what you lay down, not what you hold up.
2. My breath reminded me it’s the first reset button.
Every exhale unclenched a part of me I didn’t know was tight.
The simplest medicine may just be breathing in and out.
3. My stomach whispered about trust.
I realized intuition can echo like an ache for something more.
Maybe appetite is the body’s way of saying: this way.
4. My hands revealed how restless they’ve been.
Always reaching for the next task, scroll, or hold.
Perhaps stillness is what I’ve been reaching for.
5. My legs confessed they’re built for more wandering.
Not running toward deadlines, but moving without a map.
It seems that freedom starts one step past routine.
6. My heart revealed that it doesn’t need proof.
It beats for what it loves, whether my head agrees or not.
Maybe devotion is the body’s way of remembering.
I’ll be over here listening closely, letting my body finish the sentences my mind can’t. There’s a whole language beneath the skin, and I’m finally learning to translate it.
See you next Sunday for another round of accidental wisdom.
Kindest,
Shannon
What did you accidentally learn about yourself this week? I’d love to know. Hit reply or leave a comment. I read each one.
Interesting that I came across your article because today, I have been softly enquiring to my sciatica pain - « what are you trying to tell me ? » and she has been screaming … « I need more support! … Enough of too much!! Enough ».
I love the idea of “accidental wisdom”, like there are things that have the potential to turn into lessons everyday but we speed past them so quickly. maybe we should all listen a bit more and actually focus enough to learn those lessons🩷
